Tabby Cat - Advanced Level 3

Sometimes a painting comes about by looking on the internet for inspiration. Sifting through hundreds of photos of various subjects can really broaden your idea of what makes an interesting painting or lesson and can give you tons of inspiration. I have folder after folder on my computer (where I save photos of interest) with names like ‘landscapes with path’ or ‘still life - food’ and I look through them regularly.

The reference photo for this lesson, ‘Tabby Cat’ was one of many animal photos that I’ve collected over the years. He (or she) looks like my long departed pet ‘Ali Cat’ who would have the odd stand-off with the local fox community and purr sweetly to our neighbour for the smoked salmon treat that became all too regular.

I enjoyed this one and you’ll learn lots from it. Happy painting!
